BEN SCHWARTZ' 'EL FUEGO CALIENTE' IS THE BLACK LIST'S NEXT LIVE READ ON NOV. 21 IN HOLLYWOOD

6:27 PM

ROSELYN SANCHEZ, JAIME CAMIL, JUDY REYES,
STEPHANIE BEATRIZ, DIEGO BONETA and SCHWARTZ
TO STAR IN THE LIVE READING

The Black List, an annual survey of Hollywood executives' favorite unproduced screenplays, has announced that Jaime Camil (JANE THE VIRGIN), Roselyn Sanchez (DEVIOUS MAIDS), Stephanie Beatriz (BROOKLYN NINE NINE), Judy Reyes (DEVIOUS MAIDS), Diego Boneta (SCREAM QUEENS) and Ben Schwartz (HOUSE OF LIES) will star in a live staged reading of Schwartz's 2011 Black List script "EL FUEGO CALIENTE."

Anthony Mendez (JANE THE VIRGIN) will narrate the script.

The reading will take place at the Montalban Theater in Hollywood on Nov. 21 at 8:00 P.M.

In this hilarious remake of SOAPDISH, telenovela icon Penelope (Sanchez) desperately dreams of Hollywood stardom. But when a jealous co-star (Reyes) and scheming producer (Schwartz) bring back the ex-lover she had killed off (Camil), suddenly her life is a soap opera crazier than the show that made her famous - "El Fuego Caliente."
"We're incredibly excited to be doing what everyone in Hollywood should be doing: presenting exceptional entertainment that's representative of the highly diverse American and international audience," Black List founder Franklin Leonard said. "EL FUEGO CALIENTE is hilarious. Ben Schwartz is hilarious. Our cast is hilarious. Simply put, it's going to be a great night."
Schwartz said, "I am honored that Franklin Leonard and The Black List chose to take my script to the stage! I cannot wait to hear these words spoken for the very first time by this incredible cast! It's going to be a great night. Oh wait. Is Franklin going to say 'it's going to be a great night' in his quote, too? Should I think of something else?"
Schwartz will also direct the script reading.

He discusses his writing career and more with Leonard on the Black List Table Reads podcast this week:  blacklist.wolfpop.com/audio/40045/ben-schwartz.

Tickets for "EL FUEGO CALIENTE" are available online at elfuegocaliente.eventbrite.com

Previous readings this year include Randall Green's "CARTOON GIRL" (starring James Marsden, Gabriel Bateman, Jessica Alba and Luke Wilson) Jac Schaeffer's "THE SHOWER" (starring Gillian Jacobs, Chelsea Peretti, Felicia Day and Kristen Schaal) and Tom Flynn's "GIFTED" (starring Mckenna Grace, Armie Hammer, Frances Fisher and Gina Rodriguez).

Readings are cast by Lisa Zagoria of Aquila Wood Casting.

ABOUT THE BLACK LIST
The Black List, an annual survey of Hollywood executives' favorite unproduced screenplays, was founded in 2005. Since then, more than 270 Black List scripts have been produced, grossing over $23 billion in box office worldwide. Black List movies have won 37 Academy Awards, including three of the last six Best Picture Oscars and eight of the last fourteen Best Screenplay Oscars.

In October of 2012, the Black List launched a unique online community where screenwriters make their work available to readers, buyers and employers. Since its inception, it has hosted more than 20,000 screenplays and teleplays and provided more than 32,000 script evaluations. As a direct result of introductions made on the Black List, dozens of writers have found representation at major talent agencies and management companies, as well as sold or optioned their screenplays.

Currently, the Black List hosts over 2,700 scripts for consideration by over 2,500 film industry professionals ranging from agency assistants, to studio and network presidents, to A-list actors and directors.
