Kings Unveil 50th Anniversary Logo

4:46 PM

The Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 9 unveiled their 50th Anniversary logo.

The logo helps the Kings celebrate the club’s official birth as the National Hockey League – 50 years ago on Feb. 9 – officially granted the Los Angeles Kings franchise.
“We wanted to pay homage to our past and our heritage with the use of the original Kings crown, but at the same time celebrating the importance that our current logo means to our franchise and fans,” Jonathan Lowe, Kings Senior Vice President of Marketing, said.  “The gold tone is of course the traditional way to celebrate a 50th Anniversary and we hope our fans love the logo as much as we do and we are going to be rolling out a number of exciting usages around the logo.”

MORE ABOUT TODAY’S LOGO UNVEIL:
The logo – which debuted on today’s Kings Live pregame show on FOX Sports West and will be featured in an accompanying Kings merchandise line – will be featured at center ice at STAPLES Center to begin the season before it changes to the 2017 NHL All-Star Game logo near the start of the 2017 calendar year.  The Kings will wear a special 50th Anniversary patch on their jerseys that entire season.  The team at a later date will also unveil a special 50th Anniversary Jersey, which will be worn by the team during various games during the 2016-17 season.

To help highlight the anniversary tonight in Boston, the Kings are wearing their Vintage (Gold) Jerseys.  The telecast on FOX Sports West will feature interviews with original Kings captain Bob Wall and Kings Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne, who are both in Boston as special guests of the Kings.

The Kings-Boston game begins at season-high seven-game road trip for the Kings.  The game is airing on FOX Sports West and KABC 790.
