The Sunset Strip Music Festival commences on Thursday when 2013 honoree Joan Jett accepts the Elmer Valentine award followed by a special performance by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. She will be the first honoree to perform at the tribute ceremony.
American guitarist, singer and songwriter Joan Jett is best known for fronting the band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Some of their most popular songs include "I love rock 'n roll," "Bad Reputation" and "Do you want to touch me," which appear in many of the popular Karaoke Revolution, Rock Band and Guitar Hero video games.
Jett's distinguished sound and vocals have propelled her to be referred to as the "Queen of Rock" many times through out her career.
Throughout Jett's career her never give in, take no prisoner attitude has kept her at the top of notable rock, hard rock and punk rock female fronted bands.
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will be performing at the House of Blues on Sunset.
The Black Marquee, TB5 and Badwater will be performing in the Palaye Royale at The Viper Room.
English alternative rock group The Black Marquee, TB5 (The Bangkok Five) and Badwater join Palaye Royale to take the stage at The Viper Room for SSMF.
Fashion-art rock band Palaye Royale's rock music, with some classical and psychedelic influences are best known for their singles "Morning Light" and "Get Higher."

Glam rock band Enuff z Enuff gets to perform on the famous Whiskey a go go stage. They have captured the attention of audiences with their hits "Fly high Michelle" and "New Thing."
Enuff Z Enuff takes part in the SSMF after a 25 year career and 19 CDs to date.
Enuff Z Enuff consist of Johnny Monaco, current lead vocalist and guitarist, Tory Stoffregan, current lead guitarist, Chip Z'Nuff, current bass guitarist and backing vocalist, and Randi Scott, current drummer.

To complete the opening nights events comes band Ours performing at The Roxy.
The first day of SSMF will also include Ours at The Roxy accompanied by Luna Arcade and Dreamers Dose.
Unsigned group Ours brings their alternative rock sound to The Roxy stage.
