This is just a list of the top movies I was able to watch this past year. There a few people to thank for the opportunity to watch and review so many films — Mike "The Movie Guy" Pierce (www.iwatchmike.com), Jenny "Fly" Treviño (www.jennyflyblog.com), Jennifer Beccera, Jazmin Perez, Sal Montes de Oca, Erika Bouso, Sarah Lund, Mandy Rodgers and Nicole Bailey. These films stood out and were great in their own manner.
There were films which had the hype but could not live up to it, such as "Man of Steel" which did not make the cut.
10. "Ender's Game"
(Check out full review here)
This film had a bit of everything and made it original. It combined a philosophy and psychology to create an action movie that made audiences think.
Scene after scene this story captures the attention of progresses with a steady pace.
It leaves the audience yearning to know more and prepared for a sequel.
9. "Warm Bodies"
(Check out full review here)
(Check out audio from interviews with the cast and director here)
This strange take on a zombie's mind have heart and soul. Once again a movie which faces the philosophy which many zombie fans have latched on to but then mixes it around to create a cute story.
The movie alone satisfies but with a sequel being rumored I cannot wait to see what comes next.
8. "The Lords of Salem"
This story messes with what is known of history, brings in realistic facts about "Witches," or the Wiccan tradition, and makes a thrilling horror film.
This is not the Rob Zombie film that was expected, but it was a evolved thriller which forces audiences to think. By doing so, this film lives on in the mind long after it ends.
7. "Evil Dead"
(Check out full review here)
For the most part remakes are never as great as the original, but this film is not a remake but rather an excellent addition to the "Evil Dead" franchise.
If you have read my top 10 Horror Films of 2013 on www.DownRightCreepy.com, the main actress Jane Levy has a way of making her character hot and sexy, even as a deadite. I hope for a sequel.
6. "Fast & Furious 6"
(Check out full review here)
This film shocked me from how good it was. Going into it I was prepared for a typical Fast and Furious story with no thought just fast cars and Vin Diesel. This film had a good storyline which had subplots which worked with the main story to make the entire film appealing.
With Paul Walker's death, I hope the next Fast and Furious can match up to this one.
5. "Mama"
(Check out full review here)
A magnificent, strong and powerful horror story which is carried by two young actresses who showcase their talents.
The story is brilliant and guys the tempo of the film. The ending got the most criticism, but this films uncommon story needed an unexpected ending.
4. "Short Term 12"
(Check out full review here)
Probably one of the most touching and realistic movies of the year. This film grabs hold of the audience's attention through troublesome and caring scenes which warm the heart.
The pace and manner it was shot made the audience not only feel like a spectator but rather a part of the film.
It's a spectacular film that I was honored to discuss with the cast and director of the film.
3. "Metallica Through The Never"
(Check out full review here)
I may be bias to this film because Metallica has been my top band for many years. This film was more than just a concert film. It was not a documentary on the struggles of the band, that's what "Some Kind of Monster" was, it created a storyline with each song played.
The film contained magnificent music with amazing live concert scenes and a story which had action, growth and flowed well.

Sequels hardly ever do well in my opinion, but Despicable me had a way to match and surpass the first "Despicable Me" movie.
The story had a mood which kept the action flowing with the comedy well placed.
The minions had many more scenes and kept on with their comedy which transcends their lack of comprehendible language.
1. "Iron Man 3"
(Check out full review here)
My top pick this year was the third installment to the "Iron Man" franchise, well if you count "The Avengers" it's the fourth installment.
The story goes in a different direction, it goes from being and Iron Man story with Tony Stark thrown in to being a Tony Stark story with Iron Man thrown in.
The struggles of Tony have depth to the Iron Man story. It brought forth a greater struggle that a suit of armor could not defeat.
