Puerto Rican-based reggeatonero, J Quiles has been nominated as New and Noteworthy on iTunes Latin. His new single “Orgullo” debuted at #34 on Billboard’s Tropical charts, and after only 1 week the song went up to #16. The song is currently #4 on the National Record Poool (DJ Times National Chart).

After only 1 week of it’s release the video for "Orgullo" has a total of 3.3 million total impressions and over 20 views on Vevo/YouTube

J Quiles was born in Bridgeport CT on March 29, 1990. As a small child he would listen to the radio day and night becoming mesmerized by the various styles of 90’s music. Being brought up in an abusive home, J and his mother had to uproot and flee the United States in 1995 and wound up settling in Aguadilla Puerto Rico. While living in el barrio of Villa Linda, J’s life did a 180-degree turn around. As a release from the traumatic uprooting of his life, J Quiles immersed himself in music.

J became fascinated with some of the early stars of Spanish Hip Hop and Reggaeton, the likes Vico C, Tempo, Los Bambinos, etc. J preferred expressing himself through both singing and rapping and really focused on creating his own unique style and improving his craft.

After 8 years of living in Puerto Rico and his mother working two jobs, six days a week, she decided to move back to the United States in pursuit of providing J better opportunities. The timing couldn’t have been better, as J’s passion for Latin music was at its height; the Reggaeton movement was starting to explode in the US.

Stars like Don Omar, Tego Calderon, Wisin y Yandel who were local heroes in Puerto Rico were now International stars in the US. J finished high school in 2007 and really began his pursuit of music by participating in local studio sessions and shows in Orlando. People would always point out J’s unique voice and great lyrical ability.

In 2009, J Quiles recorded “Se Safo” with Genio & Baby Johnny, which became an Internet radio smash hit and propelled J Quiles to a short list of upcoming talent. The very next year J Quiles recorded his debut single "Algo Contigo" along with its video being directed by Fernando Lugo. Having amassed over 3 Million YouTube views on the video, J Quiles caught the attention of E One’s new Latin Label, Rich Music.

J Quiles’ debut single through this new venture is called “Orgullo,” which is a song about a potential relationship that can’t seem to get past that innate feeling of pride that won’t allow you to let your guard down and show how you really feel. “Orgullo” is currently playing on over 23 stations and will be available on iTunes December 17th.
