SOUNDS FROM SPAIN AT SXSW 2014

In 2014 Sounds from Spain will once again be present at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival with the best paella in town and six explosive performances: Arizona Baby, Betunizer, Fuel Fandango, Kiko Veneno, Lori Meyers and Soledad Vélez.

Sounds from Spain supports the international promotion of Spanish music and is the premiere tool for any company that wants to export Spanish music and expand their presence in international markets. Integrated by public and private organizations, Sounds from Spain represents the Spanish music industry and strives to present the most outstanding national artists in the international music scene.

You will have a unique opportunity to enjoy ARIZONA BABYwww.subterfuge.com an acoustic rock band whose latest album, "The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth" affects the psychedelic - folk and the more lyrical side of the group. Arizona Baby has earned three national awards including;  Best New Band in 2010 and MySpace "Band of the year". They have shared the stage with international bands such as Mark Knopfler, Clem Snide and Chris Isaak .

"Gran Veta" is the third studio album for the band Betunizer,  www.bcoredisc.com , who brings together everything great about this group: a DNA strongly influenced by post-hardcore, punk and noise rock, an unstoppable rhythm complex and funky at the same time, an urgent and sarcastic way of singing, and guitars full of groove and roughness. Betunizer has toured in several European countries and have participated in the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona and Optimus Primavera Sound in Porto as former Daniel Johnston's band.

FUEL FANDANGO  www.pinhousemanagement.com  is a duo whose key is the perfect blend of elegance, talent, positive energy and a deep musical knowledge of modern and traditional genres of electronic music, pop and flamenco.  Their second album "Trece Lunas" has received a great reception in international festivals such as Eurosonic, Les Transmusicales or Arezzo Wave and will be touring in the US after their participation at SXSW.

KIKO VENENO  www.spanishbombs.com  received in 2009 the Gold Medal of Merit in Fine Arts awarded by the Ministry of Culture to individuals and institutions that have excelled exceptionally in the field of artistic and cultural creation, and also received the 2012 National Award for Contemporary Music for his work as a leader in "mestizo music". A pioneer in the fusion of flamenco, pop and rock , Kiko Veneno collaborated in 1979 on the legendary album " La Leyenda del Tiempo" with Camarón de la Isla, writing  the song "I'm Flying". His album "Echate un Cantecito" sold 300,000 copies and is a main reference for artists like Martirio, Julieta Venegas, Muchachito Bombo Infierno, Mala Rodriguez and The Planets. It will be a real treat to attend his SXSW presentation that will include a performance of "Sensación Térmica", which is the latest work of this great figure of the Spanish music.

Born in Granada, LORI MEYERS www.lorimeyers.net  is one of the leaders of the indie rock scene in Spain . " Impronta",  his latest album, released in March 2013, reached number 3 on the list of Spanish album sales. In the past year Lori Meyers has been involved in the soundtrack of The Hunger Games: Burning, with its theme "Man on Earth" along with bands like The National, Antony and The Johnsons, Patti Smith or Coldplay.

SOLEDAD VÉLEZ  www.absolutebeginners.com  appeals in his second "Run with wolves" to an abrasive rock dotted with folk references. Following a successful tour of the UK, Mexico and Chile, her participation inSXSW will be her first experience in the U.S. market.

To taste the best Spanish indie, include in your SXSW agenda the Sounds from Spain showcases.
