When a gang of ruthless bandits set fire to a remote family farm and kidnap the farm-owner's daughter Vania (Braga), help arrives in the form of Kaí (García Bernal), a mysterious man who emerges from the rain forest.
With the grace of a jaguar, Kaí rescues Vania and plunges into a lethal game of cat and mouse with the gangsters. With the hornet's nest now stirred, Kai and Vania must decide how far they will go to preserve the farm and their vanishing way of life.
