L.A. Clippers President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Doc Rivers released the following statement regarding the passing of Flip Saunders:

“This is a very sad day and my heart, my prayers and condolences go out to the entire Saunders family. Flip was more than just a friend, he was a confidant and a mentor. The basketball world lost a ‘coaches’ coach’ today, and I lost a great friend.”
The statement come after the Minnesota Timberwolves Announced that head coach Phil "Flip" Saunders has died at age 60.
Saunders had been battling Hodgkin lymphoma since being diagnosed in August. In September he experienced complications from chemotherapy.
