KINGS GOALIE JONATHAN QUICK NOMINATED FOR VEZINA TROPHY AWARD
Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick was nominated on April 28 for the Vezina Trophy, the National Hockey League announced.
The Vezina Trophy is awarded “to the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at his position.”
Quick was nominated for the Vezina in 2012 (Henrik Lundqvist / New York Rangers won).
No Kings goalie has ever won the Vezina Trophy.
In 1975, the goalie tandem of Rogie Vachon and Gary Edwards were the runners-up for the award, which at that time was based on the team allowing the fewest number of goals against during the regular season (the current criteria for the William M. Jennings Trophy).
Other Kings goalies who finished in the top-5 in voting were Quick (2014) and Kelly Hrudey (1991).
The other finalists this year are Ben Bishop (Lightning) and Braden Holtby (Capitals).
Below is a look at Quick’s 2015-16 regular season notes and statistics:
