Russian filmmaker Jenia Tanaeva made her dreams reality as she wrote, produced and starred in “See You Soon,” premiering in early 2018.
From being a single mother from St. Petersburg, Tanaeva would dream of being a role model to her two daughters.
Taking risks and always keeping her goal in mind, Tanaeva moved herself to Hollywood, California and worked diligently to see her dreams come true.
“See You Soon” became a work if passion and came from wanting to tell a story to inspire an audience who may have never seen themselves represented in Hollywood.
The story of “See You Soon” follows a U.S. soccer star who, after suffering a career-threatening injury in the run-up to the 2018 World Cup, embarks on an unexpected journey of self-discovery and gives true love a chance.
Tanaeva starring alongside Academy Award winning Actor Harvey Keitel, Poppy Drayton ("Downton Abby," LITTLE MERMAID remake) and Liam McIntyre (Starz' "Spartacus") in her own modern day love story film “See You Soon,” can seem like a fairytale, but the hard work she put in and the connections she made to be able to see her dream come to fruition are proof of her determination.
Going through multiple rewrites and being fortunate to get an amazing cast brought hope to Tanaeva and encouraged her to continue on.
Tanaeva said she felt that coming from Russia her accent was an obstacle and many people wouldn’t take a chance on her acting skills, so she had to make the opportunity happen.
There was no time for Tanaeva to sit back and let things happen to her, she was not going to be passive in chasing her dreams and having come to Hollywood without a single friend to help her out, there needed to be effort put into making her dreams come true.
Tanaeva said that she had let an opportunity to realize her dreams and was fortunate to have her daughters come into her life, but she needed to follow her dreams and not give up on herself.
Now, with “See You Soon” going through final edits, Tanaeva waits with excitement in anticipation of having her Hollywood premiere.
More than seeing her dreams come true, Tanaeva said she hopes that her daughters will one day be inspired by her actions and that they never give up on their dreams.
Tanaeva hopes that anyone who sees her movie or knows her story continue chasing their dreams until they realize them.
