Kim Pagel To Make Directorial Debut for the Animation Studio’s First Feature
Lani Pixels announced on Nov. 6 that Jacob Tremblay (Room), Emmy Award® Winner Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future trilogy), Emmy Award® Nominee Kenan Thompson (“Saturday Night Live”) and Academy Award® Winner Mel Brooks (The Producers) have come on board to star in Kim Pagel’s directorial debut.
Thomas Pagel, who co-founded Lani Pixels with Kim, is producing the untitled 3D-animated feature, with Jason Mirch co-producing.
Verité Entertainment’s René Veilleux and Donald Roman Lopez are associate producing.
Written by Kim, the untitled feature follows Patrick and Susan as they attempt to rescue their grandfather, Mr. Campbell, from supernatural forces that have invaded his isolated island.
Guided by Jack, a charming Irish rogue, the siblings end up on a dangerous journey filled with magic and mystery. Production and additional casting are currently underway.
“It is an honor to be working with such a talented and dynamic cast on this project,” Kim Pagel said. “While this has been a passion project for many years, the themes of family unity and courage in the face of adversity are particularly important these days.”
"When we founded Lani Pixels it was our dream to tell exceptional stories and produce feature films that resonate with an international audience,” Thomas Pagel said. “Thanks to our production team, that dream is becoming a reality. While this project is the culmination of years of hard work, it is really just the beginning.”Tremblay starred in the Academy Award® Winning Room alongside Brie Larson, and will next be seen in Lionsgate’s Wonder alongside Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson, and Xavier Dolan’s The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, alongside Kit Harrington, Jessica Chastain and Natalie Portman for eOne.
He recently completed production on Shane Black’s The Predator. Lloyd is best known for his roles as Emmett "Doc" Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy and was most recently seen in Zach Braff’s Going in Style for Warner Bros.
Thompson is a cast member of NBC's “Saturday Night Live” and is currently in production on Dylan Brown’s Amusement Park alongside Mila Kunis, Jennifer Garner and Matthew Broderick for Paramount Pictures.
Legendary EGOT Winner Brooks’ best-known films include The Producers, The Twelve Chairs, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. He is currently filming Sony Pictures’ Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation.
Tremblay and Thompson are represented by United Talent Agency, Llyod is represented by the Gersh Agency, Brooks by CAA and DPN, and Lani Pixels by Attorney Michael E. Morales.
