AVIVA to open in virtual release in NY and LA, nationwide rollout to follow

Aviva is a young Parisian who develops an online romance with Eden, a New Yorker.

After a long courtship they meet in person and fall in love, settling into an intimate relationship that leads to marriage.

But their lives are not without struggle - for inside both young lovers exist warring factions of masculine and feminine energies battling for primacy inside and out of the bodies that contain them.

Incorporating exultant dance sequences choreographed by co-star Bobbi Jean Smith (the subject of Bobbi Jene, winner of the Best Documentary Feature prize at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival), and featuring a pair of principal characters played by four different actors, externally expressing their masculine and feminine sides, “Aviva” captures a restless, frenzied and very fluid moment in time - right now - where the male-female dynamic is demystified and laid bare like never before.

From writer-director Boaz Yakin (Fresh, A Price Above Rubies, Remember the Titans) comes a relationship movie that exists in its own category, exploring gender dynamics within in the self in the form of two unforgettable young lovers who refuse to stay fixed within one incarnation, putting their relationship to the ultimate test.

Originally scheduled to premiere at the 2020 SXSW Film Festival, “Aviva” will open in virtual theatrical release with select partners in New York and Los Angeles on June 5, with a nationwide rollout to follow.
