TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARMS Announces “Another Day With You” 10th Annual Campaign in Honor of World Suicide Prevention Day
Mental health non-profit To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) has announced its 10th annual campaign to honor World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10th) and National Suicide Prevention Week (September 5th-11th). This year’s campaign revolves around the statement “Another Day With You.”
In a blog post shared earlier today, the organization wrote: “This community, this movement knows what it's like to face and endure moments that feel insurmountable. Those moments when you're nearly certain you can’t or won’t survive. But we know, and you know through lived experience, that they are survivable. They are far from insignificant, they are far from easy—but they remain opportunities to witness healing and change. They result in another day. And to us, another day with you means the chance for feelings to shift, joy to be reintroduced, and hope to grow.”
When asked about the importance of the campaign, TWLOHA Co-Executive Director Lindsay Kolsch added: "It's hard to prevent something like suicide when we're uncomfortable talking about it. The thing that makes it uncomfortable? That's called stigma. This campaign is about making it possible for moments of authentic connection and conversation that just might help someone stay to happen. Whether that's in the classroom, at the dinner table, or online. We want those struggling to feel seen and for everyone to know they can be a part of the solution."
People can participate by purchasing the organization’s World Suicide Prevention Day pack, joining the conversation online using #AnotherDayWithYou and #WSPD21, and tagging @TWLOHA, and by donating to the campaign. TWLOHA will directly invest every dollar from the campaign into sponsoring 3,500 counseling sessions and supporting 45,000 searches for free or affordable mental health care using their FIND HELP Tool.
