UP THE CHAIN
Premiere New Song "The Hardest Stone"
With Baeble Musicbit.ly/1NjiEIQ

"Acoustic rock artists have thrived in Philadelphia, and Up The Chain is one of the few, young groups in the
area that can say they have seen success." - CBS Philly

Philadelphia, PA March 26th, 2015 - Philly-based indie-rock band, Up The Chain, have partnered with Baeble Music to exclusively premiere their new song, "The Hardest Stone," today: bit.ly/1NjiEIQ. "The Hardest Stone" is the first single off the upcoming EP, Windows Into Worlds, which will be released on April 21st, 2015. The EP was produced by Karl Peterson (Miley Cyrus, Usher) and is the band's third release following the LPs Holy, Open, Drying Road (2011) and Seeds and Thorns (2013). Windows Into Worlds features well-crafted songs that strike the perfect balance of catchiness and substance with three-part harmonies and raw, infectious energy. Regarding the song, the band states, "This is the first release from us as the new installment of Up The Chain as a solidified trio, so it's fitting that the song is about starting fresh, based around the idea that nothing is promised to stay the same. And the first line ("I can see the morning heading our way/it gets warmer if we stay") reminds me of the all-night recording session when we cut this song live in an empty beach house in Avalon, NJ."

The band - which is Reed Kendall (vocals, guitar), Kirby Sybert (drums) and Noah Skaroff (bass) - is a collective of some of Philly's finest musicians. After years of developing his songwriting as a solo artist, Kendall has partnered with Skaroff and Sybert to create a trio. With Skaroff and Sybert holding down the rhythm section, Kendall is comfortable being the front man, using electric guitar, taking solos and a seat behind the keyboard, adding a new dynamic to the performances.

Inspired by his musical heroes - Conor Oberst, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, Amos Lee and even Paul Simon - Kendall's songs are largely autobiographical, but the band's evolution comes from his willingness to share in the creative process. The newcomers also bring with them fresh songwriting abilities, resulting in a deeper, richer sound with crisp, well-measured harmonies.

Up The Chain has made waves both in the states with performances at festivals such as the Philly Folk Fest and internationally with a month-long stint in Germany/Switzerland with dates opening for Leon Russell and 10,000 Maniacs.

Regarding the album, the band states, "Windows Into Worlds is very much our celebration of a fresh start. Not only is it our first release together as a trio, but a lot of the lyrical imagery in the songs relates to the opening up of new possibilities."

Up The Chain will release Windows Into Worlds on April 21st, 2015.
