LA KINGS TO HONOR DUSTIN BROWN PRIOR TO TONIGHT’S GAME AT STAPLES CENTER FOR PLAYING IN HIS 1,000TH CAREER GAME
KINGS HOST VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS FOR FIRST TIME
Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown will be honored by the Kings before the Kings-Vegas Golden Knights contest on Dec. 28 at STAPLES Center in a special pregame ceremony. Brown on December 21 reached the 1,000 games played mark, an NHL milestone.
The ceremony honoring Brown is scheduled to be televised live on NBCSN.
The game will be broadcast on NBCSN and KABC Radio 790.
Fans are encouraged to get to their seats early. Game time is 7 p.m.
This is the first time the Kings will host the expansion Golden Knights.
Vegas has 50 points, the most in the Pacific Division, and the Kings have 48 points.
Currently in his 14th season, all with the Kings, Brown, 33, enters the game at STAPLES Center having recorded 535 points (245-290=535) in 1,001 career regular season games.
He won a Stanley Cup Championship with the Kings in 2012 and 2014 as the team’s captain.
Originally selected by the Kings in the first-round (13th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Brown made his debut at the start of the 2003-04 regular season.
A native of Ithaca, New York, Brown last week became just the second player in Kings history to play his first 1,000 games as a King, joining Dave Taylor (1,111 games).
Brown also became the 48th player in NHL history to play his first 1,000 games for one franchise; the 55th player to have played for the Kings and reach the milestone; the 20thplayer to accomplish the feat in a Kings uniform; the 19th active NHL player to hit the mark; and the 315th skater in NHL history to reach the milestone -- and 317thplayer overall (includes two goalies).
Brown is third to Taylor and Luc Robitaille(1,077 games as King) on the all-time Kings games played list.
Among Kings, Brown also ranks eighth all-time in goals, 11th in assists, eighth in points, seventh in power play goals and sixth in game-winning goals.
As part of this tremendous accomplishment Brown will be featured in several special promotions in-arena between the Kings Care Foundation and LA Kings Game-Used Equipment departments including several VIP experiences.
The LA Kings will be giving out a Limited Edition Dustin Brown 1000th Game Cheer Card to all fans in attendance.
Approximately five-to-10 minutes following the conclusion of the game, there will be a special Holiday-themed on-ice pyrotechnic and laser/light show.
The duration of the show is approximately 13 minutes.
There will be loud music, the hockey lights will be out and the pyrotechnic effects will produce a substantial amount of smoke.
